Walking Tours of Saratoga Springs

Each tour is a loop.

Mansions
Tour of North Broadway, State Street,
and Greenfield Avenue

This walk has it all from bankers to buffoons; from ministers to military leaders; from a Senator to one of the first starlets. Among these grand houses we find representatives from the families that were “America’s Royalty” during the Gilded Age. This tour includes almost exclusively mansions and grand homes but, because of the space between residences, there are fewer houses discussed than on the other walks.

Starting Point: near the City Center – Hilton Hotel

Merchants & Mansions

Tour of lower Circular, Union, and Phila

This walk includes the mansions on Union Avenue and lower Circular Street along with the houses of the successful merchants on Nelson Avenue and Phila Street. This one tour provides the participant with a truer sense of how Saratogians lived in the Gilded Age.

Starting point: Near Holiday Inn or downtown

Oldest Saratoga

Just to the west of Broadway is the area where the oldest houses in the city are located.  The majority of these houses predate the Civil War with those homes “new” to the neighborhood being from the 1870s.  This walk includes the Downtown section of Broadway (Yes there are 10 former houses right on Broadway).  This walk provides an excellent overview of what Saratoga has to offer.

Starting Point any hotel in the city.

By Special Arrangement
